793 Engine Bay Protection System (In Progress)

A maintainer fell down from the engine bay of a 793D Truck when he was in the process of replacing the fuel filters. The analysis of the incident identified that a fall protection system and the design of a working platform was required to remove the potential of a similar incident.

The installation of a set of rails was identified as an effective fall prevention control measure to eliminate the risks of working at height in this area. We have also designed and fabricated a platform to reduce the ergonomic access issues when filters are replaced in the CAT trucks.
